GeoCities

I received a message from Yahoo this morning indicating that the GeoCities service would be closing in October of this year.  My first reaction was – who cares.  My second, why are they telling me – I don’t have a GeoCities account.  Then I thought, but Yahoo thinks I have an account – and they are probably right.  Unfortunately, they don’t include a link to my forgotten site.  I’m guessing they are not including the link to discourage people like me who had forgotten about it ages ago from trying to find it.

There’s a lawyer somewhere saying “You offered the service, so even though people have moved on ages ago, you still have to let them know the service is going away.”
